My Tiny review of 12 Lotus and Money No Enough 2

Watched both movies at one go, today at cathay.

Movie 1, 12 Lotus.
Quite touching as a whole movie. With some parts of the movie, abit dragging.
Hokkien songs not as surprising as 881 movie.
Jack Neo's hokkien songs in his movies are more well used.
Some twist and a few surprise guest actors in the movie.

I give rating of 6/10

Movie 2, Money No Enought 2
Also quite touching. More jokes and funny. Caters greater audience base compared
to Royston Tan movie 12 lotus, which seems to contain quite abit of artistic
movie feel.
A good morale education movie.
BTW: do not leave the seat immediately, there are some extended movie clips
after movie ends.

I give rating of 7.5/10

Regarding turning on electronics device on aircraft/airplane

Read this:
http://gpsinformation.net/airgps/gpsrfi.htm

In summary:
Don't turn on your device during take-off and landing, if your device causes problem with the electronics of the aircraft, you may endanger the lives of all people on the aircraft.

So be responsible, don't turn them on.

BTW: normally the voice-over on the aircraft would say that only turn on device when in cruise mode.

Enjoy
Have a nice day

Question: Can you turn ON GPS device on-board commercial airlines?

The question is can i turn ON my Garmin Vista HCX handheld GPS on board commercial airlines, i meant for then entire duration from take-off to landing.?

As we all know, most electronics device emits some or abit of RF noise/interference.

Why i want to use my GPS onboard the aircraft? reason: i want know where am i when the aircraft is flying and how fast is the plane flying.

So with regards to the RF noise/interference, this may affect the aircraft safety and operation and may endanger lives of people onboard the aircraft.

Therefore i emailed our Singapore's number 1 airline in the world. Singapore Airlines regarding this particular issue. We have to be responsible for our actions which may also affect others.

The replies are as follows:
1)

Marathon running ?

So for us people, wanting a StandChart's 42Km finisher T-Shirt,

According to the WIKIPEDIA:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marathon

Approach generally taken towarding finishing a marathon.
1) Run from water point to water point.
2) Walk through the water stop area and instead of being spilled, consume the fluids
3) Training, begins from gradual increase distance to finally a little decrease in distance for recovery
4) Allow body to adapt to the new stresses, and overtraining results in lowered endurance and speed, posts greater risk of injury.
5) Cardiac risks during or after a marathon in within period of 24 hrs
6) Immune system suppressed for a short time.

Thanks
Have a nice day.

Running long distance may weaken immune system

Last week ran almost 13Km at one go, from hougang florida condo to punggol end and from punggol end back to punggol park.
Now i think suffering from some dehydration and weak immune system, developing some flu-like symptoms, sometimes ok , sometimes not ok.

Ok. So that is a lesson for me to reduce my running.

Here are some useful info for preparing for SBR2008, Standchart run 2008.

Warren Buffett quotes from a news article.

Regarding a newspaper article sent by my friend, which was about some quotes given by Warren Buffett

These are those quotes:
1) "It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently."

2) "Look at market fluctuations as your friend rather than your enemy; profit from folly rather than participate in it."

3) "Of the billionaires i have known, money just brings out the basic traits in them. If they were jerks before they had money, they are simply jerks with a billion dollars."

4) "The smarter the journalists are, the better of society is. For to a degree, people read the press to inform themselves-and the better the teacher, the better the student body."

5) "You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don't do too many things wrong."

I like the final quote.

"You only have to do a very few things right in your life so long as you don't do too many things wrong."

And it seems to be right. In life we need to make the right decisions. Once made, no more turning back ahead. Although sometimes in life you are given a second chance.

Singapore's Starbuck's Cheese Cake VS IKEA's Cheese Cake

Hello.

Just a few days ago,my colleague told me that Starbucks Cheese Cake are the best.
Well. Just thought i must try it.

Went to starbuck's at shaw towers(in singapore, there are many many outlets, i saw at least 3 outlets in suntec), and ordered a 'new york cheese cake'.
Having tried IKEA cheese cake for numerous times, i compared the taste to this starbucks cheese cake. No difference. The sweet sugary layer at the bottom is thicker
for IKEA's, and also for starbucks, they sprinkled some coffee power on top of the cheese cake. I am thinking could be that both IKEA and starbucks cheese cake are made by same local confectionery.

Starbuck's cheese cake cost $6.30
IKEA's cheese cake cost $3.80

Verdict: Eat IKEA's Cheese Cake and also order a cup of free flow coffee for ultimate experience.

Haha.
Have a nice day.

A new cafe and also Wireless @ SG

There is new cafe opened at Hougang Community Centre, just beside my Blk 1 along Hougang Ave 3

The cafe is called Marble Cafe. Heard the owner said all their food/drinks are prepared using Diamond Water. And also food are based on healthier menu.

I tried their "Marble Coffee", which is actually Kopi,O. Not bad , $2.00 a cup. They used a espresso machine to make.Heard is premium java beans.

They also sells cakes etc..

My review: I think the cafe can survive for at least 1 to 2 years. Feng Shui is also not bad. It is located at the previously Gym Room.

BTW: there is wireless @ SG finally available at our area.

Do try out.

How to Sync Contacts from Outlook to WM Phone

Recently my friend bought a HTC Diamond phone.

But the user manual is 6.324MB and 268Pages.
What the ..... Crap. To use a phone we need to read a 268 Pages manual.
ok.

But the real problem my friend had with the phone is to copy his contacts from
outlook into his new HTC diamond phone. To the idea is to sync the contacts from Computer to the Phone.

so to speed up the process of learning to use the phone, i have created a .pdf

Specifications of My Computer DELL Inspiron 8200

A brief history of my computer. Bought in the year 2002, and i have been using it since then.
From day one until now, i have upgraded it's ram from 256MB to 640MB and upgrade the HDD from 20GB to 80GB and also bought a new replacement Battery Pack, as the old one died.

May consider replacing it's 128MB ram module to 512MB so that the system has 1GB ram.

And may also consider dismantling the machine apart and clean it up then assemble it back.
Here are some links to DELL's documentation, in case anyone else need to dismantle the machine.

Singapore Flyer. Nice.

Took the Singapore Flyer Ferris Wheel.
Below is the height profile taken with my Garmin Vista HCX.

When at ground level in the building the GPS reads about 35m , and the max height is about 160.5m so the height when inside the singapore flyer ferris wheel at max point is about 160.5m minus 35m, about 125.5m ??

Linksys NSLU2 , Networkstorage link

A device that has a 266Mhz XSCALE processor and 64MB ram. Runs Linux.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NSLU2
Update 1:Seems like , the linksys NSLU2 is discontinued.
Update 2: Here is a link to lots of NAS , https://vsr.informatik.tu-chemnitz.de/twiki/bin/view/Sonstiges/NetworkAttachedStorage

Actually it's specification is quite similar to my broken Jornada 568 which has a Intel StrongARM 266Mhz processor and 64MB ram. The bad thing is that this device does not expose USB ports and other I/O. Will need some mods to access these I/O. Will install uCLinux.

Stephen Chow's Movie CJ7 my rating

After spending my 9 dollars and 50 cents for the movie ticket and watching it. i give it a 7.5 out of 10.

Nice Computer graphics , especially the parts where the stephen chow's son is day dreaming of making use of the alien to help him cheating in exams and fighting his school mates. Idea is a bit like doremon.

Overall i like the music inside the movie. The tracks are Sunny by Boney M and also the tune I like Chopin by Gazebo.

Wireless Power . Hmm ??

http://www.powercastco.com/index.php?page=techover

Well , from the website it says uses RF , and it is low power.
But if it is low power then , it may takes a long time to recharge your devices.

?? By the way Nicole Tesla , thought of this a long time ago. But on a greater scale, which is to transmit power across the globe. All over the place.

Thanks
